§ 20-26. Classification.

  • For the purposes of this article, taxicabs are divided into two (2) classifications designated herein as:

    (1)

    Taxicab service at meter rates. Taxicab service at meter rates is hereby defined and described to be the transporting of passengers for hire, having and securing the exclusive service of such vehicle for a fare, charge or fee based on distance traveled and waiting time, as shown on taximeters attached to such vehicles.

    (2)

    Taxicab service at flat rates. Taxicab service on flat rate is hereby defined and declared to be the transporting of passengers for hire, having and securing the exclusive use of such vehicle for a fare, charge or flat rate, so transported in such vehicle to and from any place within the corporate limits of the city.
