§ 20-31. Registration.

  • (a)

    Before any vehicle shall be used for the transportation of passengers in either class of service herein designated, it shall be registered at the office of the clerk of the city, and duplicate copies furnished to the chief of police. Registration shall show the full description of the vehicle, the number of its license plate and the name and address of the person using it in such business and the character of service to be rendered as above defined.

    (b)

    The city shall certify as registered any vehicle holding a city certificate of convenience and necessity, after its owner or operator produces such proof as the city requires as to proper state registration; and shall issue a registration number which shall be placed in a conspicuous place on the vehicle at all times. The number shall be furnished by the city clerk only after all of the requirements of this article applying to service have been complied with. Such vehicle shall not render any public service other than that for which it has a permit and is registered.
