§ 21-23. Penalties for violation of provisions.

  • Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction, shall be fined not less than twenty dollars ($20.00) and not more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) or confined for not more than ninety (90) days in jail, or both, for each offense. Each day such violation continues shall constitute a separate offense. In case any building or structure is erected, constructed, reconstructed, altered, or repaired in violation of the provisions of this chapter or in violation of the plat showing the proposed lot and building to be erected thereon, the building inspector, acting for and on behalf of the city, in addition to any other remedies, may institute appropriate action or proceedings in the name of the city to prevent and prohibit such unlawful erection, construction, reconstruction, alteration, or repairs.
