§ 6-336. Planning and zoning board.

  • (a)

    Purpose . The planning and zoning board is established as an advisory panel to:

    (1)

    Help ensure that facade designs and their maintenance are harmonious and consistent with the intended quality and character of the commercial areas of the city.

    (2)

    Provide guidance and assistance to commercial building and business owners seeking permits for new commercial construction.

    (b)

    Support staff . The city building official and volunteer architects familiar with building code and revitalization policies and procedures in the city.

    (c)

    Meetings . The planning and zoning board shall convene at regularly scheduled meetings to perform its duties and may operate under a quorum of at least four (4) voting members.

    (d)

    Duties .

    (1)

    The planning and zoning board and/or the city building official shall advise commercial building and business owners of the provisions of this article.

    (2)

    The planning and zoning board will make recommendations to commercial builders regarding facade, sign, and similar architectural and planning related issues.

    (3)

    Members may advise and comment on, but shall recuse themselves from voting, issues affecting properties in which they have any direct financial interest.
