§ 7-8. Trash fires.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to start or set any trash fire or to burn paper, grass, trash or debris where such fire is not protected by a proper furnace or incinerator or when not attended by the property owner or the person doing the burning within the city limits.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person burning paper, grass, trash or debris without the protection of a proper furnace or incinerator to burn such materials unless that person stands by with a ready supply of water and handtools to extinguish such fire and prevent it from spreading from the time of ignition until the fire is completely extinguished.

    (c)

    Whoever starts or sets a trash fire within the city without proper protection of a furnace or incinerator or who burns such materials when unprotected without attending the fire shall, upon conviction, be punished pursuant to section 1-13.
