§ 3. Definitions.

  • Words and phrases wherever used in this act, unless a different meaning is clearly indicated by the context, shall have the following meaning:

    System shall mean the City of Bogalusa Retirement System.

    City shall mean the City of Bogalusa, Louisiana.

    Council shall mean the City Commission Council of Bogalusa, Louisiana.

    Board shall mean the Retirement Board of the City of Bogalusa Retirement System.

    Employee shall mean any appointive officer or employee of the city now or hereafter employed by the city, whose services are compensated by the city in whole or in part, who is not covered by any existing pension fund maintained by the city.

    Member shall mean any employee included in the membership of the system.

    Salary shall mean the amount of compensation earned by a member as an employee of the city.

    Average salary shall mean the average annual earnable rate of salary of a member for the thirty-six (36) highest consecutive months during the total service of the member.

    Total service shall mean service rendered before the operative date of the system, and subsequent thereto.

    Regular interest shall mean such rate of interest as is fixed by the board provided that for the first five (5) years of operation of the system the rate shall be three (3) percent per annum compounded annually.

    Fiscal year shall mean the period from July 1 of one (1) year to June 30 of the year next succeeding.

    Effective date shall mean July 1st next following the date on which this act (Act 184 of 1952 R.S.) is approved and becomes effective.

    The masculine pronoun, wherever used, shall include the feminine pronoun.

    ORDINANCE NO. 1261

    AN ORDINANCE, approving the adoption of House Bill No. 666 enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana; and repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith.

    BE IT ORDAINED, that the City Council of the City of Bogalusa, Louisiana met in regular session and approved House Bill No. 666; and,

    BE IT ORDAINED, that section 2 of House Bill No. 666 states that the provisions of this act shall become effective only upon approval by a majority vote of the Bogalusa City Council; and,

    BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that House Bill No. 666 amends and reenacts sections 3 and 14 of Act 184 of the 1952 Regular Session of the Legislature, relative to the City of Bogalusa Retirement System, to provide with respect to the definition of "average salary," contributions, and approval by the Bogalusa City Council, and to provide for related matters.

    NOW THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
