§ 15-83. The use of cemetery lots, interment practices, and marking of grave sites.

Latest version.
  • The following regulations are made applicable to the city owned cemeteries:

    (1)

Any excess dirt on a cemetery plot shall be removed so that the plot is relatively level and unmarred by excess dirt. The city will notify either the owner or the funeral director to remove said dirt. Failure to do so will result in the city removing the dirt and billing the plot owner or the funeral director for the cost.

    (2)

All excess flowers which have deteriorated from a grave site shall be removed within fourteen (14) days of the funeral. This section does not apply to artificial flowers which are placed around the headstone or pot plants which are expected to grow in containers and be cared for by the plot owner. All grave sites shall have proper permanent identification markers identifying the decedent who is buried there, along with the date of death.
