§ 2-91. Intent.

Latest version.
  • The city recognizes the need for planning and coordination of criminal justice activities within the Parishes of Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, Washington, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana. The federal justice system improvement act of 1979 provides for the combination of units of local government for the purpose of forming an entitlement jurisdiction under the provisions of section 402 (a)(4) of the act. The Capital District Law Enforcement Planning Council, Inc., was established in December of 1968 for the purpose of planning and coordinating activities of area criminal justice agencies, reducing duplication of functions within the area, and reducing fragmentation of administrative costs associated with delivery of services. Therefore, it is the intent of the city to continue this affiliation with other jurisdictions within state planning district II. It is the intent of the city to combine with other parishes and cities of state planning district II to form the capital region criminal justice council, a regional entitlement organized under provisions of section 402 (a)(4) of the federal justice systems improvement act of 1979.
