§ 6-102. Examination of journeyman and master electricians.

Latest version.
  • (a)

Any person desiring a journeyman or master electrician's certificate shall make application to the board in writing on forms to be furnished by the board and furnish therein all necessary and pertinent information required by the board. There is hereby levied an examination and registration fee which must accompany the application of the applicant for a journeyman or master electrician's certificate. This fee shall be set by the city and remitted to the city for deposit in the general fund of the city. If the applicant proves that he has four (4) years or more of practical experience that qualifies him to hold a journeyman or master electrician's certificate and by examination satisfactorily shows that the applicant has a thorough knowledge of the provisions hereof and the National Electrical Code, the board shall grant the applicant a journeyman or master electrician's certificate.

    (b)

After a certificate has been issued to a person as a licensed journeyman or master electrician and it appears to the electrical inspector that said person may not be properly qualified to hold such a certificate, the electrical inspector may require such a person to take the written examination in order to fairly determine to the satisfaction of the electrical inspector that said person is familiar with all of the requirements hereof. After a six-month waiting period, he may take the examination again.

    (c)

All electrician's certificates shall be renewable on the first day of January each year thereafter upon the payment of a fee set by the city, to be paid by the applicant for the purpose of defraying the cost of said certificate, and this renewal fee shall likewise be remitted to the city for deposit in the general fund of the city. After certificate holder has been notified by mail, he has thirty (30) days to pick up the license.
